In painting class, our homework was to stand in front of a painting for 20 minutes once a week and describe what you see and draw it. The AI doesn’t allow you use a pen, but I disobeyed the rules. Nobody said a word. Of course, I had my badge on, maybe that’s why. Here are a few of the ones I did.

This project was about creating two worlds in one painting using a mirror. My painting is the bottle and brush. Here are the results:

A few weeks of sketches from Art History class have built up. These are really fun to do!

In this project we had to create an abstract still life to paint. Here are the results.

I’m excited about this class because, as you can see, the works we made were pretty great. We put our paintings on the wall and had a critique. The photo below is the sculpture I painted. I set it up 3 times and getting into the same position each time was challenging if not impossible.

This is the under painting. The lights were wiped out from the dark paint.

This is how it looks finished. Time is up for this project and we’re moving on.

Working on this painting of an abstract sculpture I made shown on the right.

Had such fun sketching the slideshow in Art History yesterday. Here’s a sampling of what we are studying.

It’s important to me to work every day on my drawing skills and technique, so here’s a few things from my sketchbooks. I have 3 or 4 going at the same time because of the different papers or the convenience of a small book when I go out or a large book with heavy paper when I’m home drawing. This is a drawing of a familiar scene and one of my favorite browsing spots in the city. Central Camera is jammed to the ceiling with camera gear of all kinds.

Made this stand for my antique rolling pin in wood shop. I rigged a light inside to light up the marbles.

Below is an acrylic painting done for research class after painter O. Louis Guglielmi. I researched him and then tried to create a piece in his style. He was known as a magic realist. My painting is about the failing middle class. Guglielmi like to create work with a social message.

Below is the work I based mine off of. The first one, called “The River” is at the Art Institute of Chicago.

I worked on these with Caran D’ache Museum leads and a water brush.

ARTE, SIMPLESMENTE...

Uma pausa na violência, na tristeza, no não-ser... Um olhar na beleza e nos olhares de quem a faz. Necessidade. Brilho. Paixão. É tudo.
